A Fathers Day Remembrance

Vincent A. Civitano  April 24, 1934 – June 20, 1990

Remembering and celebrating my father Vincent

Yesterday I lit a memorial candle on the anniversary for 30 years since he has past. In his memory I am sharing a few of my favorite photos of him.

I never knew my birthfather yet it’s the most interesting feeling, as the years have gone by, as I have continued to blog and study his photos, as stories have been shared, visits with my brothers, my Uncle, my Aunt when still with us, boundless conversations with my Uncle, wonderful cousin reunions, Vincent has become so real to me. As if we had walked hand in hand and shared those special moments fathers and daughters often have.

Yesterday, on the anniversary of his passing, my brother Frank brought 4 red roses to our fathers grave for me. He placed one in honor of myself, his only daughter, one for his only grandchild, my daughter Marissa, and one for his two great grandchildren, Torance and Liam.

  1. Hi Cousin, this is such a wonderful tribute to him. I enjoyed sharing these memories. Unfortunately, I don’t think I ever met him. I see that he rests in St. Raymond’s. That’s where my parents and grandma and grandpa Caso are too. (Rose and Michael). They are in the St. Anthony section.
Hope to talk to you soon!
    Hugs

    • So nice to hear from you. I am so glad you enjoyed the photos. I don’t think I realized the connection with the Caso’s there at St Raymonds too. I’ll have to check on what section. Yes, lets talk again soon 🙂

  2. It’s so wonderful that your cousins and others have brought your birth father to life for you. It’s just magical. And how sweet that Frank brought flowers to represent you and your daughter and grandchildren.

  3. There is something unique about the bond between fathers and daughters. It is extraordinarily special, sacred, and beautiful. To celebrate Father’s Day my youngest daughter Alize put together a YouTube Video singing “Papa Can you hear me?” – Barbara Streisand – The song is like a prayer and really touches your soul. You can listen to it if you go on my website – https://authorjoannereed.net/happy-fathers-day/. Definitely worth a stop-over
